Beauty

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

I know this by heart. First time I heard about this saying is when I was still in grade school. I asked my mom for explanation. But I still didn't fully grasped the meaning. I thought how can people have different opinions of beauty. Surely an ugly-looking person is ugly-looking to everybody? Or a pretty girl is pretty to everybody, right? My mom said no. I was confused but I let it pass.

Now that I am 3-decade old, I am still confused. I know what the saying means now but it doesn't apply to reality anymore. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, it's what is dictated by the magazines, and fashion & beauty industry.

Maybe I am just sourgraping because I don't conform to what is thought as beautiful. I can just imagine how the concept of beauty now affects those acne-ridden and plumpy teenage girls.

Oh what a cruel world we live in. But I still love living in this world :)
