I passed by a Nike store this morning. Their banner says 50% discount on all items. Lured by the numbers I went inside.
Actually the discount ranges up to 50% discount. Some items were marked down by 10%, 20%, 30% and of course 50%.
I saw a fab sleeveless shirt. A perfert pair for my new Nike pants. I tried it on and it looked great on me. The price tag reads RM26 ($8 approx). Divine! This is a steal, I thought.
But before I can pay, a realization hits me. Is this really a good buy?
Sure, it's 50% off. It looks good on me. But..do I really need it? Hmmm..Mentally I took an inventory of my gym shirts. I still have around 5 - 6 gym shirts which are still in good condition.
So I put the sleeveless shirt down and headed for the exit.
I realized that it may have been cheaper but I don't really need it at the moment. Not even in the next two months or so.
So a 50% discount is not always a good buy. Not if you don't need it yet. It would just be another unnecessary expense.
That's what I think anyway. Unless I'm suddenly hit by another depresion or insanity.
