I was mindlessly checking a recipe site when I saw a picture of yema. I wasn't planning on making any dessert but the picture of yema was so tempting that I found myself checking the ingredients.
I've made yema before when I was a kid. All I remember was cooking the condensed milk in a pan over medium fire until it became so sticky. But the recipe on the site mentioned adding eggyolks and some nuts for more flavor.
And so this afternoon, while my son was taking a nap I made yema again after a very long time. Making the yema evoked memories from a happy childhood. I found myself smiling.
Then my 2 cellular phones rang simultaneously bringing me back to reality.
The yema was a success if I base it on my son and husband's reaction. They couldn't stop eating it.
