Travel worries

I was so fidgety flying back to KL yesterday. Nervous that I'd develop a fever or my son would. That would mean we'd be quarantined upon arriving in KL. And that would mean our travel to Phnom Penh would be postponed. Thank goodness, we were both okay. No fever at all.

We just had dinner and I crashed in our bed (I wished it was a sleep number bed though) immediately. I was so exhausted!

I woke up today feeling refreshed and a lot better. I still have cold but it's not bothering me much anymore.

Hopefully before we travel to Phnom Penh on Tuesday, my son and I would be in good health.

A1 vs A2

We're in Phnom Penh! So far so good.

We've checked out apartments already. I liked two of the apartments we've seen. But I couldn't make up my mind. It's a toss between a one-bedroom (Apartment 1) with nice furnitures and a two-bedroom (Apartment 2) with so-so furnitures.

Apartment 1 one has treadmills on the 4th, 5th and 6th floor. Apartment 2 has none.

Apartment 1 has a nice rooftop where we can do barbeque and stuff. Apartment 2 has none.

But apartment 2 is way bigger than apartment 1. The master's bedroom is huge , we can even have one more bed if we want!

I am partial to apartment 1 because everything is new and furnitures and equipment are nice. Hello 42-inch plasma TV! But the fact remains that it's a one bedroom apartment. We're thinking of having a house help so a one-bedroom apartment is out of the question. Plus, we won't have rooms for visitors if we take apartment 1.

We were supposed to transfer today to apartment 1 but decided to take one more day to think more.

Let's see what we come up.

Drinking like a fish

I had a sore throat the other day. I panicked because it is one of the symptoms of swine flu. I had a flu shot last week but having read that there are more than 200 cases of swine flu here in the Philippines, I still went to see the doctor immediately.

Thank goodness, it is just a regular sore throat and cold. I am taking medication now and drinking a lot of water. I actually drank almost 5 liters of water yesterday.

I wanted to stay the whole day at the hotel and just rest but I needed an external card reader yesterday so I went to a computer shop in Megamall. I was surprised to see that this store still has no barcode scanner. You have to line up so you can be entertained. After you get your product, they write a receipt! It's no biggie but it's a little inconvenient to customers especially if the line is long. Oh well.

Anyway, I am feeling a lot better this morning. I will continue to drink like a fish and hope this cold will go away before I fly back to KL on Saturday.

The Spa

While in Manila, I always find time to visit a Spa. But everytime I'm there, I always end up in one of the spa in Megamall's 5th floor.

There's nothing wrong of course. But I noticed that the spa I frequent isn't being properly maintained. So I looked for another spa. From my hotel's directory list, I found one in Podium's 5th floor.

It's called The Spa. Actually I've heard and read about this spa before. I've even seen one somewhere in Libis. But I have never tried it.

So when I found out they have a branch in Podium I made a mental note to visit it.

After a very tiring commute to Carriedo to get hubby's NBI clearance, I decided to drop by The Spa first before going back to the hotel.

I was impressed. It looked like a very expensive spa based from the design of the place. But it was actually affordable. For a one-hour massage in a common room, it's only P850. But I tried the "executive room" for P1,100. It was actually a solo or private room.

I was asked if I wanted a sauna but I declined. So I assumed they have one. I only took a shower. The locker area and the bathroom was nice.

Before proceeding to the masage room, I was brought to a "waiting lounge" where I was served a ginger tea and given a magazine to read.

The massage room itself was also nice and spacious. I have aversion to small rooms. I am a little claustrophobic.

My therapist was good. All in all I had a very pleasant first time experience.

I am definitelty coming back next time I find myself in Ortigas.

On the plane

There was one very stylish woman aboard our plane yesterday. We were on the way to Manila. I wondered if she was a Filipina? Her features certainly looks like it. But then I couldn't be sure. All I know was that I kept looking on her on the pre-departure lounge and I noticed a lot of men were too. She was not only stylish but was also very pretty.

She was wearing a white long sleeves tucked in a tight almost khaki colored pants. Actually she looked like she was on the way to an equestrian event and it looked like she was wearing breeches! Hehehe. But it really looked good on her.

I looked her up when we landed but I couldn't find her anymore. Maybe she sat on the first row and was out of the plane first.

I just wanted to see her so I can imprint her attire in my mind and maybe copy it someday. That is if I lose a ton of weight. LOL!

Blue Dress

I have a current love affair with dresses. Everytime we go to a mall or I pass by a store, I couldn't help checking out the dresses. Gone were the days when I would check out the jeans first.

Has it anything to do with getting "older"? Hahahaha!!!

Here's my new purchase. A blue dress from Zara. I have almost the same dress from a thrift store, only it was purple.

I tried to look demure but I couldn't pull it off. LOL

I love this picure because I look thinner than I really am. Hahahaha! But what I really need is a diet pill to kick start my losing weight again. My jumping rope exercises only maintains my current weight. I want to lose some 6-10lbs more.

Moving Places

I'll be in Manila this Wednesday. Yay!

But I still have problems with our packing. We have started to pack some of our essentials but we still need to decide what to do with the remaining of our things. I've checked some moving services and the price doesn't come cheap. I think it is even cheaper to buy new things than to ship our things from here to Phnom Penh.

I am really glad our apartment here comes fully furnished. Although we did buy a furniture. But it wasn't expensive so, it doesn't matter much.

We're thinking of just giving away some of our things, mostly EJ's toys. Maybe we can give it to the nice guards in our apartment. Hmmm..that's a thought!

This moving places every two years or so is exciting. But packing ruins it all. LOL

Never been a dress girl but I am now

I don't know what brought this on but I am wearing dresses now. It used to feel weird but lately, I am loving it.

Here's my current favorite white dress from Gap. I first wore it at our Bali trip. White dress + beach + sun = perfect! Except I wore it during the night. LOL!

But seriously it was a perfect dress for strolling. It was so hot in Bali that night and wearing a white dress somehow cooled me off. Hahaha!!!

Caffeinated Internet

Tonight, I am sipping a grande latte and munching almond biscotti at Starbucks.

Yes, our internet is still hilariously slow. I refuse to be pissed off anymore so here I am making use of free wifi at an establishment. Technically it is free but since I bought a coffee and a biscotti, it's not really free anymore. LOL

But that's okay. As long as the internet is fast and I get to drink a latte, then everything is great!

I have been trying to book our hotel in Manila since last week but I always get disconnected. Tonight, I finished booking our hotel in less than five minutes. Yay!

I wonder what it must be like for people who have programmer jobs and have to deal with bad internet connection? Hahaha!!!

Now I am off to listen to Charice's A note to God again. I am going to play it over and over again until I go home. =)

Sports makes me happy

Monday morning was a great start to a possibly boring week. And it's all because my favorite player and team won.

Favorite player being Roger Federer. Finally he has won the elusive French Open! Having Nadal out of his way wasn't really a guarantee that he'd win the title. He had to fight his way all the way to the finals. Although Soderling was playing a good tennis, he was no match for The Fed during their Finals match. It was a sweet, sweet game.

And favorite team being the Lakers. Alright, I have to admit that I more of a Kobe fan than a Lakers fan. If Kobe is not on Lakers, I wouldn't be a Lakers fan =). So anyway, they won their first game. It was a big victory for them. Imagine a 25-point game in the NBA Finals. And Kobe was of course the player of the game. Sweet! =)

So yeah, my week started out beautifully.

Ahh coffee

My internet connection at home is really bad. I've been complaining about this in my other blog. But I really cannot do anything about it anymore. For one, we are moving out of KL end of this month. Second, this is already my third internet service provider and they're all the same. I think the real culprit is that we are staying at the 37th floor. I guess the signal isn't so good anymore.

Right now I am at Krispy Kreme, eating an original glazed donut, sipping a latte and taking advantage of their faster wifi internet connection.

This whole afternoon, I can barely connect to my internet connection. I needed to log on because I need to make a hotel booking for our Manila trip next week. And of course I couldn't do it at home. What an inconvenience!

But right now, I am not complaining. I am completely happy to be by myself, free from my son's interruption of play with his paw paw trees toys, free from my husband's sports commentaries while being able to do my work and enjoy a hot coffee.

All I need is a foot massage to complete this current set-up. That would have been bliss.
