My last serious shopping trip was last March, in Bangkok. To be precise, I shopped at Central World Mall. And now it's burned down to the ground. I was sad when I heard the news. I loved that mall. But I heard they're going to rebuild it again. That's good news!
Anyway, would you believe I haven't bought anything of significance for three whole months? Granted I bought a lot of stuff in Bangkok but still, to go on for three whole months without shopping? Wow! I am proud of myself. LOL!
No, I am not a shopaholic. But I think all of us need retail therapy once in a while. In my case, I guess I just didn't have the need for it for three months now.
Oh wait, I bought a dress at Russian Market last month. But still, it was only $5 so it didn't count. LOL!
Seriously though, I am glad we live in a place where there's not a lot of temptation. I think I could even go on and not buy anything for one whole year. And I wouldn't mind at all.
Or is it because I am busy that I don't have this urge to go on retail therapy? Maybe. I still go window shopping though. I go with my friends to different markets here.
Boeung Keng Kang market is a good place to find vintage belts and shoes. O'Russey Market is also a treasure trove for almost everything. My friend swears there are authentic second hand LV and Gucci bags. But I still have to see it. Russian Market is for brand new clothes. And if you're lucky, you might chance upon an original Gap, Old Navy, etc. For a
modern furniture, you just have to go to Monivong Street. It's dotted with furnitures shops. Just take your pick. For second hand or vintage Japanese finds, we always go to Japanese Thrift Shop at France Street. And for upscale and trendy clothes, we always go to Street 240.
On second thought, I think Phnom Penh has plenty of shopping temptations. I guess I am really just busy to go buy something.
