Heavier

Just got back from a short holiday and I am 5lbs heavier!

I may not look like I have gained weight here because this dress is roomy (which I love) but the weight has been creeping up on me lately.

A vacation however short it is, has been the culprit. We've had short getaways every month and everytime I come back from those getaways, I am always heavier. I need to put it in my head that a vacation is not a license to stuff myself with food.

Now, it's back to square one. I need to work out more and eat less.

Quotes at my FB

I am loving my FB page. A lot of people have been posting quotations as their status. I even copy and post some of them as my status. Hehe.

Here are some quotations I see on my FB page today:

"However good you are, people will hurt you. All that matters is how you face them."

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” -Helen Keller

"You only live once...but if you live it right, once is enough."

"We always wait and look for the right time, not knowing that each time is right only if we make things happen."

I love the last one! It speaks of my current frame of mind. Just do it, now! =)

I am loving cambodiaparentsnetwork! If you are an expat here in Cambodia or planning to move to Cambodia, join this yahoo group. Very useful and you get good bargains from people leaving the place (which is like almost every day). Just now, got an email from a family who's leaving Cambodia very soon and they are selling most of their stuff at very low prices. I have reserved lots of items already including: wii accessories, kid's table and chair, wireless router and handheld mixer.

Great Friday

I woke up Friday not feeling well at all. My throat was a bit dry and I was dreading a sore throat. My ankle also hurts after a tennis game Thursday night with hubby. And I was still reeling from the bad news I got from home.

But despite all these, I was still looking forward to Friday. And what a beautiful Friday it was.

1) Friday was a holiday here in Cambodia. That means long weekend for us.

2) LAKERS won. Back to back Baby!!!

Kobe wasn't his usual best shooting wise but he did make it up with 15 rebounds. Way to go Kobe!

Next year, I am looking forward to a three peat. Oh yeah!

3) I heard a very good news back home. Thank God our prayers were answered. No more sleepless nights for me.

Three different reasons for me to celebrate and celebrate we did! We had pizza, we went to a spa and had a long and blissful massage and I went online shopping. But guess what I shopped? No, it wasn't garden windmills. LOL! It was something pretty ;-)

Happy weekend!

Strange

It sounded like a joke at first. I almost laughed. This is like a movie playing right in front of my eyes. The difference is that I am not enjoying the front row seat.

I am talking about a family crisis. And no, thankfully it's not my own family.

I really cannot talk about it but I also couldn't help myself but talk about it. I am getting crazy thinking things over.

I sound like crazy now. Maybe I am. I haven't slept well last night.

There are so many things to consider. Sell or buy the properties, the possibility of Outer banks foreclosures, or we could just shrug everything and not care.

But I couldn't afford not to care.

It's almost a done deal but I am hoping for something....a miracle maybe. Or an appearance of a ghost.

Gosh, life is really stranger than fiction. I didn't see this happening in my life and yet it is happening!

It's just a game

Lakers lost today. I was really hoping they'd steal one more game before heading back home. Now they're down 2-3 in the series and I am really sad. I tried to console myself. But it's no use. I really, really want them to win this championship. More importantly, I want Kobe to win this championship so all the doubts about him not being good enough will be put to a stop.

Photo from NBA.com

I know there are two more games back in L.A. But I wanted them to go back home relaxed and not pressured to win on Tuesday (Wednesday here).

Still, I have not lost hope. I will be glued to my seat on Wednesday morning, watching and cheering for Kobe and Lakers.

And if they lose, it's just a game, right? There's always next year =)

Now, let me get back to my life and find the gold coins my brother kindly asked me to. I hope it's available here.

Happy Monday!!!

Places to spend in Phnom Penh

My last serious shopping trip was last March, in Bangkok. To be precise, I shopped at Central World Mall. And now it's burned down to the ground. I was sad when I heard the news. I loved that mall. But I heard they're going to rebuild it again. That's good news!

Anyway, would you believe I haven't bought anything of significance for three whole months? Granted I bought a lot of stuff in Bangkok but still, to go on for three whole months without shopping? Wow! I am proud of myself. LOL!

No, I am not a shopaholic. But I think all of us need retail therapy once in a while. In my case, I guess I just didn't have the need for it for three months now.

Oh wait, I bought a dress at Russian Market last month. But still, it was only $5 so it didn't count. LOL!

Seriously though, I am glad we live in a place where there's not a lot of temptation. I think I could even go on and not buy anything for one whole year. And I wouldn't mind at all.

Or is it because I am busy that I don't have this urge to go on retail therapy? Maybe. I still go window shopping though. I go with my friends to different markets here.

Boeung Keng Kang market is a good place to find vintage belts and shoes. O'Russey Market is also a treasure trove for almost everything. My friend swears there are authentic second hand LV and Gucci bags. But I still have to see it. Russian Market is for brand new clothes. And if you're lucky, you might chance upon an original Gap, Old Navy, etc. For a modern furniture, you just have to go to Monivong Street. It's dotted with furnitures shops. Just take your pick. For second hand or vintage Japanese finds, we always go to Japanese Thrift Shop at France Street. And for upscale and trendy clothes, we always go to Street 240.

On second thought, I think Phnom Penh has plenty of shopping temptations. I guess I am really just busy to go buy something.

I miss blogging

Craving for some spicy food. In particular, this Dolsot Bibimbap Set from Korean resto at Nagaworld.

I wasn't a fan of Kimchi before. I guess it's an acquired taste. Now, I can eat two or three servings of it. Good thing, a refill of Kimchi is free at Nagaworld. LOL!

Next week when I am not too busy anymore, I'll drag my friends to eat there again. Right now, I am actually swamped with work. I am not even sleeping well because even at sleep, I dream of work. LOL!

And which reminds me, I need to drink my vitamins. I have been feeling dizzy lately. Maybe I need to take iron supplements as well.

Ahhh..work. When you don't have work, you long for it. When you have plenty of work, you wish you don't have it. LOL!

Happy weekend everyone!

Proceed to Succeed

"Gently and thankfully accept where you are in life, then gently and thankfully proceed to succeed" - Marston.

I got this from one of my friends in Facebook. And I reposted this in my status because I like it.

There are two things which I like about this quotation - being thankful and the push to succeed.

It reminds me of another quotation, by Oprah. "What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life."

They're not exactly the same but somehow both quotation talks about being grateful for everything in our life and success comes after it.

I am always thankful for all the blessings I have. I am just waiting for the money to flow in freely into my bank account. LOL!

Seriously, life is great. Let's be happy and thankful all the time.

Now, I am off to watch Game 1 of the NBA finals and to look for prototype 37c at the supermarket.

Go Lakers! Go Kobe!

June goals

Wow, it's already June! We're halfway through the calendar. Next thing we know it's already December. Time does fly so fast when we're having lots of fun.

There's something about the start of the month that makes you set goals, right? I am always like that. First day of the month or first day of the week is always a good time for me to set standards, goals and kick off a project.

My goal for June is nothing new. It's actually redundant that it's kinda annoying already. LOL! Can you guess what's my goal this month?

This month I want to lose 2kgs. Seriously. Yes, I have lost weight when I had the urticaria last week but it's not enough. I need to lose more because I couldn't fit into my old pants anymore. And if I do, there are bulges in the side. It's not a pretty picture.

I want to lose weight the healthy way. I don't want to buy diet pills and rely on it to make me sexy..este healthy.

I am going back to exercising regularly. I might even ditch yoga and concentrate on my trusted jumping rope exercise. It has helped me shed 20lbs before. I am sure it's going to help me again.

My other goal is to make more creative pieces of jewelry and be able to sell them this month. Hopefully the business collaboration with a local shop here will be fruitful. I have also signed up at Etsy. And though shipping can be a turn off, I am hoping my jewelries will fare well.

Two goals this month. Nothing exraordinary but it would take my extraordinary will to be able to reach these goals.

Do you have goals this month? Do share =)
