Comparison

On a reflective mood about the way I dress up...

I like to believe I am not baduy. But you know, one can only hope. Hahahaha!!! Seriously, I like to dress up. But with the body I have, I couldn't dress up fashionably well because choices for the big girls are limited, at least compared to the slimmer ones.

I took out two photos from my facebook profile pic.

Taken April 2009 in our KL apartment. As usual, I thought I still needed to lose 20lbs then. But when I look at this picture now, I actually look okay. It was a weekend so I dressed up casually. The LV bag was 50-50. Fifty percent from my online work and hubby added in another fifty percent. That was my first designer bag. Thanks Hon! Which reminds, I need to buy a personal anniversary gift for him. We just celebrated our anniversary last January but I saw a nice gift online. I must buy it before it's gone.

This one was taken last December. I look bloated but still I think I look nice. Bwahahaha!!! This is one of my fave dresses, from Mango I think. Most of my dresses are actually black. You know what a black dress can do! Hide bulges, right? Hahaha.

It's only March, and since December I have gained 2.5kgs again. It's not too evident but if I continue to dilly-dally about going back to diet, I know I will end up shopping for new clothes.

I have to be honest, more than the health benefits of being fit, I want to look good. It's good for my confidence and my health too.

Heartbreaker

Saw this movie last weekend. Yeah, we've been watching too much DVDs lately. We did not have time for movies before. I don't know why. We were always busy with something else. I guess our priorities lately have changed.

So anyway, we watched this movie. Original title of the movie is L'arnacoeur.

It's a French film by Pascal Chaumeil. The entire movie is in French but there was subtitle all throughout the movie.

The premise of the story according to the cover "Alex and his sister run a business designed to break up relationships. They are hired by a rich man to break up the wedding of his daughter. The only problem is that they only have one week to do so."

I thought I'd get bored. But man! This was by far the best romantic comedy movie I have seen in a while. I laughed at loud, cried and fell in love at the same time. Wow! Even my husband loved it.

I also love it that the girl is so effortlessly chic. When I grow up, I want to be like her. LOL! There was no dull moment in the movie. Plus the setting was in Monaco. How much more chic can it get?

Totally love this movie.

Great Motown Show last night

Did you watch the American Idols sing Motown songs last night? I thought it was one of the best shows. The contestants did a good job. But a few stood out really well.

Let me name my faves:

I loved James' performance. He's serious about winning, isn't he?
Scotty was dreamy. I think he'll go far in this competition. Never thought that before.
Stefano, even with less connection to the audience, did well. I thought he sounded great.

So-so performances:
Paul
Jacob
Hailey
Lauren
Casey
Naima

Boring:
Thia
Pia

Sorry. This is just my opinion. I love Thia and Pia's voices but I felt their performances were kinda boring. Thia tried an upbeat song but still it was flat. I don't know, she's just not doing it for me. As for Pia, I agree with JLo. She's beautiful, has a great voice, has a perfect image but her performance lacks something. She gotta work on that stage.

You may have the most awesome voice but if you don't perform well, it won't get you further.

That's just my humble opinion.

No beading today

Today, I gotta put brake rotors on my beading frenzy. Yes, I need to stop even for just a day.

I do have "kalyo" (callus) in my hands. I am not really concerned about that. I mean beautiful hands are working hands, right?

But what I am concerned about is that if I don't stop right now, I'd have probably have bandaged hands by tomorrow, probably even this afternoon.

That's the problem with me. When I am in the mood, nothing can stop me. And I don't want to stop if it's not really necessary because it disturbs the creative juice flowing out of my head. What creative juice? Hahahaha. Never mind.

So yeah, I gotta save my hands today.

Just the right timing too because I have a handful of assignments that I need to finish as soon as possible.

I even declined a coffee date this afternoon so I can finish my tasks ahora mismo.

Happy midweek you guys!

Love and Other Drugs

I saw this movie last Sunday on our lg tvs. And I can now totally see why the lead actors Jake Gyllehaal and Anne Hathaway have both been nominated for Golden Globes as Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.

In all the movies I have seen lately, this takes the cake. I am not a movie critique or anything but I love this movie. Sure, there are a lot of nude scenes (which makes other uncomfortable) but they were all done tastefully.

Jake's and Anne's acting are so remarkable. Both are incredibly hot looking in the film. At one point, I told hubby, "wow, Anne is so beautiful" and she was even fully clothed in the scene.

It's a romantic comedy that does just that. Makes you laugh, makes you fall in love. When the movie gets a little heavy, there's Jamie's (Jake) brother to make you laugh again.

Directed by Edward Zwick and it runs for 1 hour 53 minutes. A little long but it did not feel dragging.

Having said all that, go and watch the movie if you haven't yet. And please don't take my words for it. LOL!

Munching machine

I have become a munching machine lately. Seriously!

I have got to stop. Like, yesterday. Really. It's not funny and I am not even joking. What's happening with me? I don't even eat like this before.

Sad.

And you know what's even sadder? I justify my eating with what's going on around the world.

The three-punch disaster in Japan. The "war" in Libya. Killing in Yemen. Protests in Bahrain. Etc, etc, etc.

You ask what's the connection?

Well, people have been going on and on about how the world is going to end soon because of all the disasters around the world.

And that made me think, if the world is really going to end soon, what's the use of dieting? Right?

If the world is going to end soon, I'd rather die full than hungry.

LOL!

Well, wouldn't you?

I know, I know. Pathetic. But there's a bit of logic in it, right?

Sigh.

When will I ever win against this flab war?

Maybe I should think it's not a war. And then maybe I'd succeed. Or maybe not.

I'll go back to South Beach Diet again tomorrow or maybe I should just pop in some weight loss pill that works.

Sigh. The never ending saga of a person who's always on a diet.

AI singing songs from the year they were born

Who were your favorites last week? I have to say the guys did a great job. It's hard to choose who among them performed better than the other. But of course I have my favorite performances. And guess what? It's all boys. Hahahaha!!!

Stefano Langone sang "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Simply Red. It was simply awesome. He almost got eliminated before. Thank God for the wild cards.

James Durbin sang "I'll Be There For You" by Bon Jovi. Loved it again. I have to admit I really did not like James at the beginning. But he's starting to grow on me.

Scotty McCreery sang "Can I Trust You With My Heart" by Travis Tritt. Another contestant which I did not quite like before. But he's so consistently good and it's hard not to like him now.

Thia Megia sang "Colors Of The Wind" by Vanessa Williams. I still like her despite her mediocre performances of late. I am waiting for her to really shine. C'mon Thia, you can do it!!!

Playlist

Hey guys! Apologies for not posting much lately. I was invited to display my jewelries in Jasmine Boutique, one of the upscale shops here in Phnom Penh. On top of my other responsibilities I had to rush making all those jewelries. But no complaints. I don't complain about blessings. I am thankful and I am humbled by all the good things happening in my life.

So yeah, I finished all the jewelries yesterday afternoon including personal orders from the Manager. I was quite pleased and happy with myself.

Big shout out to the husband also for helping me with EJ and for understanding my crazy little business. Hahaha!!!

Anyway, while making those jewelries I listened to this playlist in my iPhone:

Billionaire
Just the way you are
Grenade
Born this way
Fireworks
Hot and Cold
Pyramid

As in, paulit-ulit. I never got tired of it. I like listening to music that makes me dance when I am beading. It resonates with my work. Hahahaha!!!

What are you listening to right now?

What's your Story? Morning Glory

Have you seen this movie?

I saw this movie on DVD last weekend. I liked it.

It's directed by Roger Michell and the casts include Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Jeff Goldblum, Patrick Wilson, and John Pankow.

It's nothing earth shattering or mind blowing but it's a definite likeable comedy movie. I find myself rooting for Becky (McAdams) and Pomeroy (Ford).

I think I will watch it again.

My favorite last night

I had a surprise last night while watching American Idol. Two of my least favorites (sorry) had an amazing performance.

Scotty McCreery. I don't know. I just didn't like him before. But last night, he blew me away.

James Durbin. Same with Scotty. I did not like him. I feel like he's immitating Adam Lambert. But last night, he was very likeable. And I totally loved his performance.

Performances worth mentioning too are:

Naima

Stefano

Casey

Mango is in Phnom Penh

I heard from friends that Mango, yes Mango, the retail clothing company has arrived in Phnom Penh. Okay, the right word is not arrived. It should be opened because I have been waiting for Mango store to open since last year.

It was third quarter of last year when Mango has put up advertisement along Sihanouk Boulevard that they are going to open up a store.

I don't know why it took so long for them to open. But hey, I am glad they're finally here!

It was a holiday last Tuesday and like any other holidays here, I make it a point to do some errands and leisure too.

So after I checked some rv financing, I headed to Mango store right away.

No, I did not plan on shopping. I just had a major shopping spree in KL a week ago. So I am broke. I just wanted to check the merchandise and prices.

What a pleasant surprise to find out that the prices are not exorbitant. I was expecting they'd open up Mango but the prices would be sky high. I mean compared to Mango in other cities like Bangkok or KL.

So ladies of Phnom Penh, there's no reason to go to Bangkok or KL anymore to get your dose of high street fashion. Just head to Sihanouk Boulevard.

I will, maybe three months from now. LOL!

How do you know

Weekends have become movie time lately. I like it.

I used to be so busy even on the weekends that I have no time for even a short movie. Now, thanks to efficient time management by me (LOL!), I can now enjoy a movie or two.

Last Saturday we watched "How do you know".

It says release date was December 17. I guess the date refers to US release date.

I had no expectations about this movie. One, I haven't seen the movie trailer and second, I haven't read about it. I bought the DVD because I know all the stars in the movie. Hahaha!!!

Surprisingly, I like it. It's not the usual spoon-feeding type of film that I am used to. The characters are weird and I like it. LOL!

What I did not like was the length of the movie. It was a little too long. I guess I have this problem about length and spacing. They probably could have shortened it and made it faster. But well, that's the director's take.

We watched three movies this weekend. Will write about the other two later.

Down in Two

I drink occasionally. I drink at parties or celebrations and sometimes at home with the husband. Gone are days when I could stay up the whole night just drinking with my friends.

First, I couldn't last that long anymore. I usually sleep around 9-10pm now. Second, I haven't had a drink of more than two glasses of wine in a long time. My alcohol tolerance must have gone down so anything more than two glasses of wine or stronger than that, I'd definitely fall flat on my face.

Last night was our usual Friday night date, hubby and I. He suggested we try the new bar/resto in town.

I said yes, because I needed to chill after a long day of searching for office supplies online, working on my jewelries and taking a picture of them.

Anyway, to make the story short I got more than tipsy after I consumed two Singapore Sling. I was actually bordering on being drunk. Or maybe I was. I couldn't tell the difference. LOL!

Actually after I downed the first Singapore Sling, I was already feeling light and a bit tipsy. I don't know why I still ordered another one.

When we went home around 8:30pm, I just had time to clean up and then right away I went to sleep. Hahahaha!!!

I am getting old. And that's the truth!

I want: 010

Yay, thursday!!!

I am just happy today. No particular reason. I guess there are really days when everything seems right. And today it feels like it.

Anyway, I know this is supposed to be an I want Meme. But today I don't have any wants. LOL!

Instead I am going to post the thing I wanted a couple of weeks ago but it's now in my hands.

My second longchamp bag.

I wanted a cream colored longchamp bag with a long handle. Sad to say they did not have a long handle in the store. So I chose this instead.

I can't figure out what color it is. Sometimes, it looks like it is brown but in the broad day light it looks dark green.

Next week, I will probably be back to my normal self -full of wants. LOL!

For now, I am content. I don't think I'd be shopping for the next six months. Hehehe.

My yellow flat shoes

While in KL, I found a very bright colored shoes - yellow. Normally I shy away from this kind. I don't know why I bought it, on impulse I guess.

But I am happy I did. I like it. No, I love it.

I actually wore it right away. Hahaha!!! That's my son's shoes beside me. He ran away when my husband took this photo.

I think I have changed my mind about colorful shoes. Next, I am going to buy a hot pink one. LOL!
