Change of heart

I was reading a magazine the other day and they featured different types of tea. Of course I read it. Anything about tea, I am curious. LOL!

The article mentioned the different health benefits of drinking different type of tea. It said, if you want to lose weight, you should be drinking Oolong tea.

I thought, really? All the while, I thought green tea is the best tea to drink when you want to lose weight. Hmmm..interesting.

Complimentary Green tea and instant coffee at Sofitel. Of course, I drank the tea.

When I got home, I googled some more and I got different opinions from tea experts all over the world. Some say Green tea is still better compared to Oolong tea. And some say otherwise.

Ever since I started drinking tea, I drank Green tea only mainly because of the health benefits associated with it. Even if it's a little bitter compared to the other tea I still chose it and I've come to love drinking it.

But now, I think I am going to shift to Oolong tea. It is not because I found out it's much superior compared to Green tea in the weight loss and maintenance department. In fact, tea experts are still divided with this issue.

I am shifting to Oolong tea because it tastes much better compared to Green tea. I could drink it like water! With Green tea, I could only drink a maximum of three cups a day because it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

One tea may be better than the other but I don't care that much anymore. Besides, both tea come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. The only difference is the way they are processed.

All I know now is that I love drinking tea more than ever!

Perspective

When I go shopping at GAP, Mango, Zara or other international clothing store chain, my size is small or sometimes extra small. But when I buy unbranded clothes from Central Market here in Phnom Penh, my size is large, sometimes extra large even.

Take a look at this picture:

Left side is a shorts I bought here in the local market. Size: XL. Right side is a Mango pants. Size: USA 6 or small. I bought the pants several months ago already and my size now is USA 4. Anyway, the point is there's a big difference, from extra large to small!

At first I get irritated when I go shopping at the local market because it's a self-confidence crusher. Just when you think you are size small but when you go buy clothes from the market, you are still large or even extra large!

I guess, it's just a matter of perspective. Just like life is a matter of perspective.

When I want to feel good about myself, I go shop at Mango store here. It's guaranteed that I am size small, sometimes medium and sometimes extra small but never large and certainly never extra large.

When I want to feel challenged (and of course when I see something nice), I go buy from the local market here. When only an XL or large fits me, I will be motivated to work out harder.

See, it's a win-win situation! We just need to look at the positive side of things, all the time.

We should celebrate victories or achievements but we should also continue to improve ourselves.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Those shoulders

My body is so sore after yesterday's lifting and carrying of boxes. But thank goodness we're done unpacking and there are no more boxes on the floor.

All I need to do today is to arrange everything. It might take some work but at least it won't be as heavy work as yesterday.

Hubby took this picture of me last night while having dinner at Mama's New York Deli.

Can you see my shoulders? Don't they look a little toned? LOL! That's probably just from a day of lifting those heavy boxes, chair pads and my son's toys! LOL!

One thing I like about heavy work is that I don't have to exercise anymore. It's double productive - I get to finish the task and I get to exercise (without meaning to!).

So I say, gimme lots of physical work. LOL!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Sports heaven

Someone said in twitter that Sunday was like heaven for sports fan. First, there was the NBA games between the Heat and the Celtics. Second was the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley. And later on that day was the Roland Garros Men's final between Djokovic and Nadal.

I would almost agree except that I am not a fan of Heat nor Celtics. So I was just halfway thru sports heaven. LOL!

The two games that I watched (boxing and tennis) gave disappointing results, at least in my case.

The judges declared Bradley as the winner of the boxing fight to the astonishment of the crowd and the people watching at home.

It was a clear Manny win! I may not know a lot about boxing but isn't the winner the one who lands more punches and is still standing strong after the fight?

Manny took the result in stride. He said he thought he won the fight but said he respects the decision of the judges.

Grace even in defeat says something about the character of the person. That's one thing I like about Manny.

To Manny Pacquiao, you may have lost your belt but I am sure you're still the winner in most Filipino's heart and mind. Mabuhay ka! Keep on inspiring us!

The Roland Garros Men's final which was stopped and postponed the following day due to rain did not bear great results either. Of course, you'd feel differently if you were a Nadal fan.

To a Djokovic fan, it was a sad day. I wanted him to win because I wanted him to complete the 4 grand slams this year. Unfortunately, someone stood in his way. But that's tennis.

You may have lost this RG title, Nole, but I am sure you'll come back stronger next year.

I plan to watch either Roland Garros or Wimbledon next year, so Nole, you better be in the finals! And you better win it. LOL!

Musings Musings on a Gloomy Thursday Afternoon

The weather is not helping at all. It's been gloomy a lot lately. While I welcome the relief from hot temperature, I do not welcome the onset of dramatics from myself.

I do admit I have a flair for the dramatics. I really should have gone on to acting or theater. I think my career would have been a secure, the workholding even clamped tightly. LOL!

But since it is a little too late for that career I might as well stop being this overly fool for an old woman.

It makes me think, did I take after my mother?

Bless her soul. But if I do remember correctly she was also a bit sensitive. I used to say to myself back then that I don't want to be like my mom. No offense and I loved her but I just did not want to be like her.

But look who I am turning into?

Maybe I just need a little bit of a shopping? I mean bag shopping? I haven't done that in a long while.

Until Next Time

I am selling the last remaining pieces of my handmade jewelries. I am not saying goodbye to beading and jewelry making. I am just taking a necessary pause for a while.

The last remaining stock I have are being sold on a give-away price. If you're based in Phnom Penh, this is a good opportunity to buy cheap jewelry at the best quality. My sales talk. LOL!

Here's one of the earrings I am selling. Isn't it pretty? Another sales talk. LOL!

I plan to take up jewelry making class in the future. I know creativity cannot be taught and cannot be learned but I think know-how is also important. What I have learned from jewelry making, I learned on my own. And I also want to know more about the stones I use because admittedly I know little.

Right now, I will focus more on things that matter more. But hopefully soon, I want to go back to beading and jewelry making.
